Browser Extension - Ways to Make it Faster

Post by mCHSNUg5Pz8cPap »

It seems to take a long time to convert web pages to pdf with the browser extension. Let's use this website as an example:
https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=US365477193&_fid=WO2020176534

It takes 30 seconds from the time I press "Convert to PDF" to the time a Save As window opens prompting me to save the document. Is there a way to make this faster?

One more thing is that it would be nice if the extension simply opened the resulting pdf file in PDF-XChange without asking me to save it (this is what the extension does when opening a web based pdf file; it doesn't open a save as dialog).

BTW, I'm using version 1.2 of the extension on Edge 110.0.1587.35 (this is the Edge Beta channel).
Features I really want:
1. Fully customizable toolbars: https://forum.tracker-software.com/viewtopic.php?p=167585
2. Sanitize documents w/o being forced into save as dialog (Acrobat has this!): https://forum.tracker-software.com/viewtopic.php?p=156130

Hello mCHSNUg5Pz8cPap,

The conversion speed depends on the browser and how the pages are handed to our add-on.

Printing it will be much faster because the pages are turned into graphical objects but making an editable document, containing text and images, does take more time.

However, we will make our best to speed up this process even more in the next few builds, so please keep your product up to date.
One more thing is that it would be nice if the extension simply opened the resulting pdf file in PDF-XChange without asking me to save it (this is what the extension does when opening a web based pdf file; it doesn't open a save as dialog).
Thank you for this suggestion.

I will forward it to our developers for consideration.

Regards.

Hello all,

In the meantime, one could also use the Opera browser which allows saving (almost) any web page directly as PDF, exactly as it is currently displayed on screen (including the current browser window width).

I find this usually results in an excellent representation of the web page in the resulting PDF, also in case of the example given above by mCHSNUg5Pz8cPap.

HTH & cheers

Thanks to both of you. Maybe I should check out Opera. The PDF it created is quite nice.
