How to remove large black border now on Typewriter tool?
I noticed last week that when I go to use the Typewriter tool, there's a large black border around the area to type. It used to just be a cursor and I could easily type what I wanted to add. See attached screenshot - going left to right, what it looks like when I press the Typewriter tool, what it looks like when I click the mouse pad, and then what it looks like when I type something. Then when I go to print to PDF, the large black box is still on the page. How do I remove the large black border on the Typewriter tool? I double checked, and I have the current version, 9.3.361.0. I did go into Properties and couldn't see an option re the border. Thanks!

Hi,
To remove that default border:
- create a Typewriter object (that automatically will have that large border)
- in the Home ribbon, click "Select Comments"
- click the Typewriter object, to select it
- an additional ribbon "Commenting Tools" with "Format" and "Arrange" will show up
- in the Format ribbon, change/modify the "Width" to "0 pt"
- still in the Format ribbon, click the "Style Tools" icon and then click "Make Current Properties Default"
From now on, the large border should be gone when you create new typewriter objects.
Please let us know if this helps.

Thank you, Willy, that worked! Do you know why the large border suddenly appeared?

The only thing I can imagine is that it was set by accident.
I am not familiar with any defaults that would explain this.
Did you know that you can save your settings to file so as to be able to reload them any time? With the Editor set up as you like it, including annotation styles, you can go to File, then Manage Settings, there you will find options to export, import, and reset your Editor settings. You may want to export them as a back up to easily restore in future in case you make changes yo want to undo but can't figure out how.
cheers
