A Second Quick Access Toolbar
Hi,
I know there's the ribbon, and then there's the Quick Access Toolbar, this thin guy who sit (usually) just above the top of a file: (Not mine here - just a screen grab from the net.)
Is it possible to make a SECOND one of these for different screen environments? Basically, if I'm on the road, I'll collapse the main wide toolbar. BUT...I've got the QAT - is that what we call this one in PF-X, QAT being just an Office acronym - I've got my QAT pretty well filled out but it assumes use of the MAIN ribbon as well.
For those times I'm on the road I'd need a different collection of tools, some that usually live in the ribbon.
Any way I can have an on-the-road QAT?
Or, alternatively - a two-row QAT?
Thanks!
SCH

HI SCH,
Yes, you can create as many custom toolbars as you like, and enable/disable them as required for the work you need to do.
You can view how to create custom toolbars here:

Re: A Second Quick Access Toolbar
Hi Sean,
I follow.
Seems like those are toolbars, but not QUICK ACCESS Toolbars? Like the wee thin one -
Am I right?
If yes, is there any way to create a second QUICK ACCESS Toolbar?
Sincerely,
SCH

Hello shade-cabin-hammock,
Have you seen the new "Quick Tools" that we added in build 362: It is docked on the left by default but can be moved to the right of the main rendering area as well if needed.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
Wow! That looks like just what the doctor ordered. I can't seem to get it to sit anywhere other than at the top left - tried dragging it, etc. Able to get tools inside, as illustrated. How can I get its position to change.
AND! B L E S S you all and your team there for adding in such light-sabre level stuff. !
Sincerely,
SCH

It can also be docked at the bottom of the main rendering area.Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 10:38 am ...

Hi PHK, Dimitar & Stefan!
PHK - YEAH! It looks USEFUL! Had you seen it before? Quite the wee Easter Egg to find, no?!
To All - I can't seem to figure out how to get it in any other location other than top right? It won't drag anywhere for me.
What do you think is happening?
Sincerely,
SCH

I found it like all Easter Eggs, sniffing around in the dirt. But seriously, I dragged from the top left to the bottom and it snapped just on the off-chance.shade-cabin-hammock wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 4:08 pm Hi PHK, Dimitar & Stefan!

I think it is what is NOT happening. You gotta click-down on the top of the QAT where there is a grid of dots so that it shows a four-arrow icon and then drag and drop.shade-cabin-hammock wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 4:08 pm

Maybe a good GIF animator like Sean can come up with something.

Re: A Second Quick Access Toolbar
Hi all,
Yes, I can confirm that it's quite tricky to move the default toolbars when you are customizing toolbars - I'm not actually 100% sure that it's possible. However, I think a more relevant question is - why is this actually necessary? You can instead create a new, custom toolbar that contains all the tools and features etc as required:
and once the process is complete, you can move it to any location that you like, for example on the right side of the main window:
You can also use the Customize Toolbars feature to hide default toolbars (such as the Quick Access Toolbar) if desired. I honestly don't see any reason to add features to default toolbars, as opposed to creating your own, custom new ones.
Hope this helps,

First of all, Paul, I really meant you as the GIF animator master rather than Sean. Very sorry. Apologies to you both.Paul - Tracker Supp wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 7:55 pm...
Which toolbar are you looking to reproduce/move?
And oh so many Quicks; I am overwhelmed!
But what I thought SCH was referring to as the Quick Access Tool Tool bar was the Quick Tools Tool Bar that my postings were addressing. I think we are all a bit confused by the similar designations.
Therefore, may I clarify that my postings refer to the Quick Tools Tool Bar?
Your GIF above is good and interesting and useful but I took the subject of SCH's inquiry and Stefan's advice was related to positioning the entire Quick Tool bar rather than modifying the contents thereof.
I hope this helps.

Re: A Second Quick Access Toolbar
No worries PHK,
Sean is a good guy so I don't take offense...
Yes! Too many Quicks indeed! I am sure if the other guys need/want clarification they will ask. What I was trying to illustrate in that GIF is that one can drag a tool to the "Quick Tool" bar- just the tool, OR one can make it it's own "Quick Tool" by dragging it a bit lower on that toolbar, in which case it adds it as it's own bar and I can drag it next to the first. I thought the guys were asking how to add a second "Quick Tool" bar and that does it. Notice how it closes with the documents? Normal toolbars would not, they would remain visible even with no documents open.
Does that make sense?

Re: A Second Quick Access Toolbar
Yes, it does! But I am just beginning to get my head around what Quick Tools can do. I think there is a lot of promise there, however.
I thought SCH's earlier questions were about docking positions of Quick Tools but I welcome your illustration of how to create additional QTs.
All best,

Re: A Second Quick Access Toolbar
On further examination (Easter Egg hunting to some) it seems to me there are ten possible positions for the Quick Tools toolbar. The first and easiliest dismissed is free-floating anywhere in the application window. The other nine are docked top-left, mid-left, bottom-left, left-bottom, mid-bottom, right-bottom, bottom-right, mid-right, and top-right. All you have to do is drag the QT to roughly where you want it and release to drop.
That's a lot of flexibiliity particularly that you can have many QTs and each can be populated with functions of one's choice.
Very good, Tracker Software!

Hi All,
Yeah! PHK, you're RIGHT! This thing is the doggone BOMB!
Seems like my issue was that I hadn't updated in a while. Once I updated, I had JUST what has been so kindly outlined by everyone. Now, I can get just-icon toolbars ANYWHERE I need them.
GREAT work, PDF-X team! IMPRESSIVE!
Thanks to ALL for the clear guidance.
Sincerely,
SCH
