adjustments made are missing after uploading in sharepoint

Post by Thijs Langelo »

After I added adjustments to the PDF I uploaded it in sharepoint. When opening the PDF in SharePoint, my adjustments are no longer visible. See attachments
How is this possible?
I had also merged the pdf.

Hi Thijs,

storing a PDF on SharePoint obviously shouldn't cause data loss. May I ask what mechanism you used? Did you open the PDF directly in the Editor using a SharePoint "Place" in the editor or did you download it, open it locally, save it locally, then upload the saved version?

Did you know you can use the PDF-XChange Editor to open the PDF directly from SharePoint with all the SharePoint Check Out/In functionality? The end of this KB details SharePoint as a "Place": https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/490-Working-with-Cloud-files-in-the-PDF-XChange-Editor

I am keen to better understand your process and how this may be possible.
Best regards

Dear Paul,
I have discovered the following; When I "merge" a PDF file from PDF-xchang, the notes I made are no longer visible in Adobe acrobat Reader DC
How is that possible?

Hi Thijs,

there is a possibility the annotations are damaged and our older version was not strict and now we are more strict about not showing broken annotations.
Can you send us the file? I am keen to check this. If you do not want to post it publicly on this forum please email it to support@pdf-xchange.com and cross reference this thread so we know what we are looking at?

cheers
Best regards

What do you merge this with and how are you doing so may I ask?

I have no issue wit this PDF, as you say it has not been merged yet. If I understand you correctly you merge this with something then these annotations are no longer available.
What I would like, if you can help, is to reproduce your actions here. Can you tell me what you do to merge that results in the annotations no longer appearing? If you can also supply the file you merge and a screen shot or description of how you do it I can try the same here sand should see the same issue.
For example, do you "Combine Files into a Single PDF":

Or perhaps you use the Thumbnails pane to "Insert Pages":

These details will help me reproduce your issue if you can provide them please?

warm regards
Best regards
