Advanced Search Pane Position

When pressing Ctrl-Shift F the search pane comes up over the text, obscuring it. Is there a way of setting it to appear *beside* the text instead? If so, where is it described in the manual?

You can not really place it 'behind' the text - but you can position and dock it so that it is to the side of your text and does not interfere with you reading the main document content:
