Data doesn't save in some forms

I'm a patent attorney and I have a license to PDF-Xchange Editor. However, I like to use Viewer to view documents and complete forms because it's faster to launch and uses less resources on my machine.

Changes made by Viewer persist in some Patent Office forms, like this one -> https://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/sb0016.pdf

But do not persist in other forms, like this one -> https://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/aia0014.pdf

I'd like to buy licenses for the other attorneys in my firm, but I can't recommend a product that behaves inconsistently with official Patent Office forms. Please let me know what you think.

Hello, volcanicedition

I am afraid that the Viewer has been discontinued for over a decade now, and has only been seeing critical security patches for just as long. Any new or old bugs which are present in that application are unfortunately part of the package.

My suggestion, despite your mention of preferring the viewer because it is more lightweight, is that you will want to update to the PDF-Xchange Editor for these actions going forward. If the same issue happens in our Editor, we can work to help resolve that there, but there is nothing we will be able to do for the Viewer anymore.

Kind regards,

Hi there. I hadn't realized that Viewer was discontinued. I'll continue to use Editor for my needs going forward.

Do you have any advice for settings changes that I could make that would help Editor open faster?

Hello, volcanicedition

The Default settings for the editor should result in the fastest opening time it can offer, there are settings that affect this, but they would result in slower opening time, with the bonus of making scrolling a bit smoother in particularly large documents.
