No OCR

Post by kaisermj »

I receive "blueprints" or floorplans in .pdf format from my employer. It's been a couple of years since I was involved in these particular projects but in the past I was able to OCR the document so that text in the document was searchable. In the past I just hit the OCR button with high accuracy and it worked just fine. Now it doesn't seem to. I've also unchecked the boxes to ignore existing text, comments, and form fields. I've also had it outputted to a new document to no avail.

Version 8.0 Build 336.

Unfortunately I can't upload the document because it's contains confidential information.

Hi kaisermj,

I am sorry to hear that you are having these issues with the OCR.
In the past I just hit the OCR button with high accuracy and it worked just fine. Now it doesn't seem to.
May I ask what you are actually seeing? Does the OCR complete and the results are not what you expected? Does the OCR not run at all?

Did you know that we have completely revamped the OCR in Version 9? I see your license did not include the Enhanced OCR. So I am assuming that you are using the "Default" OCR. while not available in today's build we will ne implementing a trial of the new Enhanced OCR soon, though that does not help you today.

Is your 8.0.336.0 OCR OK for other documents? We would treat it as confidential and delete once finished with your file if you email the document to us at support@pdf-xchange.com
Best regards

Paul,

Thanks for the response.

The OCR function seems to function as I remember, it finishes without any errors. For the time I tried outputting to a different, file it asked me for a name/location. If I try to "find" text in a web browser (I've tried Edge and Chrome) nothing comes back despite the word being on the screen. I also tried "find" within XChange Editor as well. Nothing.

I just pulled up an old document that hadn't been OCR'ed and got the same results. Not sure what's up...

Apologies but your request seems to have been missed - are you still having issues or is all resolved ?
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Best regards
