"Add signature" - new behaviour in build 314?

Post by Peter2 »

Normally, I use the Viewer to sign my PDF. Before build 314, it worked like this:

Before:
- open "test.pdf" (size: 36 kB)
- add signature, the "save command" starts automatically
- I select: save "test.pdf" - and it worked great and saved the file, although it was opened

Now:
- open "test.pdf"
- add signature, the "save command" starts automatically
- I select: save "test.pdf" - it reclaims that it can not access the file because it is used
- I select the "Save as .." button
- I select: save "newtest.pdf" - it is saved, but the signature was forgotten
- add signature again, ...... - I have to select immediately a new filename, other while it is an endless loop. Playing around brings a crash ...
- size increases from 36 to 97 kB

In Editor it is nearly the same, but
- is has no "save as .." option, and display the unchanged PDF without signature
- if I use "save as ..", the filesize increases from 36 to 522 kB

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the post - I have no issues with this here. Can you please send screen-shots of what you see when trying to save over the existing document? Also, please make sure that the file is not being previewed in Windows Explorer, or open in another application.

Also, does this happen with all files, or just one/a set?

Thanks,

It's weird ...

For Viewer:
Can be confirmed with other files and other situation.

For Editor:
Yes, maybe was the file used by another process. But the file increasing can be confirmed. The Editor also asks for PIN of my signature, the Viewer does not ...

Hi Peter,

An increase of file size, after placing a digital signature, is to be expected. There is a lot of extra information that is stored in a document, after signing and the file size can increase much more if the signature uses an image. Also, I'm not seeing any significant increase with the Editor:
Size Comparison.zip
(35.13 KiB) Downloaded 65 times
Are you using exactly the same signature template and settings between the Editor and the Viewer? Could you upload screen-shots of the settings used both?

Thanks,
