PDF won't display properly

Post by BarryH »

Hi

I'm running the latest version of PDF-Xchange Editor

I've attached a PDF file that display correctly in Adobe Reader but doesn't display correctly in XChange Editor. The document contains a number of tables that have a white text on black background header row, these display correctly in Reader but show as a solid black with no text in Xchange Editor. Also to my eye the fonts don't seem to be displaying correctly either.

For example of page 210 the table title displays in the correct font in Reader but doesn't in XChange.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Bary,

I've asked a colleague from the dev team dealing with fonts to take a look at this file and we will post again when we have further news.

Stefan

Hi Barry,

After an initial check - a colleague asked me to make a ticket for this file:
RT#2408: Editor 307.2: Issues with a non embedded font with built-in encoding
So that we can resolve the issue.

We will post here when we have further info.

Regards,
Stefan

Hi all,
I write here to not open a new discussion, I've the same problem and i'm really interested for the solution.
I've a 25 key license, and only 5 computers on 25 can see the pdf correctly (I've attached an image with the correct view and the wrong view).
There is a section where i can keep track of the tickets or you will post here?
Thanks in advance
Best Regards
Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to our forums. Your issue is different - and not related to the one for which I created ticket 2408, but from your image it seems like another problem we've already seen. If you can attach the actual file I would be able to test it for you.

Stefan

Hello Stefan,
At the moment I can't attach it, I'm waiting for approval since they are documents containing sensitive and protected data.
However, in the meantime I tried to open the document posted above by BarriH and I find myself with the same problem at the page 210, so I think the solution "may" be the same.
I'll attach the original file as soon as they give me the authorization.
Thanks in advance.

Chris

Hello Stefan,
I'm sorry, you're right, my problem is not the same.
My problem is that I don't see the titles that instead BarriH sees a different font at page 210, like my image.
Anyway, how i can send you the original file? I would like if possible to not attach it to the post..

Chris

Hi Chris,

Please send the original file to support@pdf-xchange.com with a link back to this topic in the e-mail body so that I can connect the two, and I will then test the file for you.

Stefan

I am having a similar problem with a file that contains photos. The entire file is displayed properly in Viewer, but several photos do not appear correctly in Editor.

I have attached a file with 3 of the problem pages.

Thanks lkugle,

I see that it renders as a solid green in the Editor for me. I have passed the samples on for the guys to look at. Thanks for sending these.

Thanks lkugle,

Your problem is different from both the Ticket and the issue Chris had.
I have passed it to a colleague from the dev team (Serg) for investigation.

Hi,

I've been having intermittent issues with the display of PDF's using PDF-XChange Editor 3.0.307.2 - refer

The issue disappears on re-starting the application and re-opening the PDF file. This behavior is not limited to a particular file.

Hi Mark,

Build 308 is out, can you please download and try with it?
Also please make sure to take a look at this (we will simplify and split this KB article into several in the next few days as it's a bit long at the moment):

Thanks Stefan,

Didn't realize since the website was temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. Have downloaded and installed PDF-XChange Editor Version 5.5 Build 308.

Unfortunately as the issue observed was intermittent, will need to monitor to confirm resolution. Will re-post in case similar behavior is observed.

Hi Mark,

Yes we had to put it in maintenance mode so that we can upload some new logic related to the new type of license handling we are now using.

Fingers crossed the problem will not reappear ;) but if it does - do not hesitate to let us know.

Stefan

Has this problem been fixed? If so, how do I get the new version? I have Version 3.0 (Build 307.2), which was included with PDF-XChange Lite.

Hi lkugle,

This does seem to render correctly for me, in Version 5.5 build 308.2. Could you try the upgrade and let me know how that goes?

I would Strongly recommend taking a look at this KB article before going through with the update:
