Remembering Passwords

Post by fghj »

Hello,
xchange viewer stores recently used files.
Is it possible to also store the passwords, if they were required and entered correctly?

Its really annoying to type the password again and again for the same document.

Hi fghj,

No such functionality in our Viewer/Editor for now - but I will mention it to the devs for consideration in the future.

In the mean time you can use some tricks like the ones described here:
http://superuser.com/questions/7463/
The one I liked was the "append the password to the end of the filename" :)

Cheers,
Stefan

Ok, thanks.
And thanks again, if you could do so and tell the devs .. it would be a gread new feature.

Hi fghj,

My colleagues just told me that this feature has already been worked on and is actually almost ready, and will be added to the Editor in a future build!

Cheers,
Stefan

Hey, that sounds like great news.
But I only use the viewer - will it also be added there or will I have to switch?

Hi fghj,

That's unlikely. Pretty much all changes and definitely all new features are only going to happen in the Editor from here on.

If you have valid maintenance the upgrade from Viewer to Editor would be free.

Stefan
