V5 - settings import
Hi,
is it possible to somehow transfer settings from V4 to V5?
I tried manually to export profile in V4 and import it in V5, it seems to work, however I'm not sure if this is safe. The version 5 does not ofer to read .ppr files, only .pp5, so I forced the import by typing the filename explicitly.

Hi anovy,
Thank you for your post.
Version 4 and version 5 have different settings and they are not officially supported as compatible between these versions. I strongly suggest you to use .ppr files for version 4 and .pp5 files for version 5 only. If you want to experiment with these settings, proceed with caution but if you have any issues we will not able to help you.
Thanks.
Sincerely,

Hi,
Thanks for reply.
So there is no official method how to transfer settings? Some settings (e.g. sets of watermarks, headers/footers) was hard to create and now they must be manually retyped?

Hi Anovy,
While there is indeed not an official method to transfer settings, what you have tried is currently working. Though please note that we can not guarantee long term compatibility - so please use this with caution!
Best,
Stefan

Re: V5 - settings import
Hi all,
I seem to have the same problem with the transfer of the print driver settings from v.6 to v.7.
The settings I have saved from v.6 have the extension ".pp5", but v.7 expects settings files with the extension ".pxpp".
Does that mean that all my settings from v.6 are lost?
I have also extracted the v.6 settings from the registry if that is of any use for the transfer.
Regards
David

Re: V5 - settings import
Hello David,
Unfortunately the move from V6 to V7 of the drivers made some quite significant changes to the way settings are stored (they are in a completely different format even in the registry) - so the settings files are not really compatible, and you will need to redo yours.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: V5 - settings import
Thank you Stefan,
this is a bit of a problem because I had created many detailed printer settings over the years, for example including certain color settings and watermarks, and including a special setting for despeckling problematic fax documents.
Do you think I it would be possible to install the v.6 printer driver parallel to the v.7 printer driver, then open both printer drivers side-by-side and manually transfer the settings over?
Best regards
David

Hi David,
Yes V5 and V6 should install side by side without any issues!
