Rename files not possible on NAS/Network-Drive

Post by heidi-hoh »

Hi,
i use a NAS connected as a network-drive (drive-letter) to windows.

In Win-Explorer, i am able to rename the files on this network-drive.
Within PDF-Exchange Editor, i am not able to rename a file. In file-menu it's grayed-out, right mousebutton-klick on the tab does not show "rename".
Any other editing (as far, as i see) and saving is possible, only renaming does not work.

When i move the file to my lokal harddrive, renaming in both ways is without any problems.

Any ideas?

Hello, heidi-hoh

Is it possible that this drive or folder requires permissions which you or our Editor does not have? Rename should currently work on mapped drives, and after a few tests, and can confirm there is no issue in the current release (9.5.367.0). On that note, it could be that you are using an older build of our software, I believe for the first few builds after this features release, it did in fact prevent rename from working on shared/mapped folders.

Could you please double check both the permissions, and the version of our software that you have running, and let me know if it helps?

Kind regards,

Hi,

no, definitely no problems with permissions. Network is very basic.
As i wrote before, i am able to edit a pdf (i.e.: delete all the pages inside) with pdf-Exchange and safe it directly on the NAS. Works like a charm. Like all other software too.
Same story on my old win10 laptop.

Yes, i "still" use V 8.0.344 and remember that "rename" within pdf-xchange has not always been part of the software and i was lucky, when i found this new function.

OK, so i think a bug-fix for V8 will not happen?

Hi Dirk,

Unfortunately this is so. We do not patch old versions, fixes go in each new release. You need to update to get the fix it seems.

I am keen to hear if it works in the current version.

OK,

it's on my "reasons for update" list.
Exclusive in the moment.

Thank you.
