Constant XREF table error

Post by MedBooster »

I download a Looot of PDFs every day, and I keep getting this error
Is it possible to make it automatically choose "full save" (not incremental save?) and overwrite the "corrupted? (the documents don't seem to be lacking anything?)" file ? I keep having to do that manually

Hello, MedBooster

It is not possible to automate this process. We provide notice of error like this because they are present before we touch the file, and it could help you to identify the cause. Simply saving the file (Ctrl+S) should suffice. Incremental save is not enabled by default, and should not have any effect on this issue, so I am unsure why you have mentioned it specifically?

I am still asked if I want to full save or incremental save though... Maybe you could point me to the relevant settings

Not having always use incremental save enabled seemed to do the trick ,
BUT. I am not able to use the save all function when I have some documents with this XREF error.
So I suggest that you allow for that, and that if you click/or use a keyboard shortcut to save all you actually save all the documents that are "fixed"

I have also sent you an E-mail with an OBS recording showing how annoying this can be .

Hi Medbooster,

a Save All would mean a Save As dialogue for each document though. Why not simply turn the message off and let it behave like Adobe? If you turn that warning off, any changes made will precipitate a save and a "fix". No change gets no fix but since the document renders anyway it appears to "just work". That is what others are doing.

We need to either ignore it as others do, or prompt for each document. I don't see a middle ground, Save All with a dialogue for each isn't practical in my opinion. You can turn the warning off in the Preferences :

Thanks for that.

I have had a discussion with the development team leader about this and he is fim in his position that he will not automate this. There is too much risk of data loss. I am afraid your only options are to either continually save these manually as you are now, or disable the warning and have it behave the same as Adobe, that is to not annoy you with the issue and fix it next change save. It does mean that unchanged docs will not be corrected, this is the same as other software and I am told it will remain this way.

respectfully
