Selecting Arabic Text

Whenever I try to select an arabic text (right to left), the selection is not as I want it to be, check the video below:

In short:
I'm trying to select a text

dragging the selection for one more letter shows this incorrect selection

Arabic text being an RtL language can cause some confusion with text selection systems that are based in LtR methods, This particular issue seems to happen in a number of PDF editors/readers, and appears to be related to the presence of a few select text objects which are not flagged as RtL characters. To get around this issue, you can use the "select text" tool specifically, and hold "alt" while dragging to force the "area select" function to be used, instead of the "text select" function.

Can you generalize that feature to include the highlight text and underlines text features? Thank you very much for that information.

Hi Humam2104,

my apologies, I did get a response that we will make this change so the others have that feature, yes. My apologies, I neglected to pass on here the associated ticket: RT#6265: Find/search and Copy of arabic text not working in Editor

The ticket system is for internal use only, so to get a status report you need to ask here by referring to the ticket number.
This item is now of the status "Open" and a developer has been assigned the task. Ultimately delivery of the feature will be at the development team leader's discretion. At this juncture I have no knowledge as to whether it will make it into the next scheduled release, we will have to wait and see.

Are there any updates on the matter? I asked if it's possible to include the ALT feature for every tool rather than using "Select text" tool. Thanks.

Hi guys,

I made a note on the ticket that there are enquiries being made about this. The devs are under an even bigger load right now than usual and there is a back log in feature requests, so I cannot give yo an ETA on delivery of this. Ultimately it will be at the development team leader's discretion.

Whatever the timeline works out to be for this particular request, I don't anticipate seeing any new features before Version 10 which is still a few months away.
