Hey,
i build some Scripts with PDF-Tools, all works fine (for Example: open, Rasterize Pages, save).
Is it posibile to set a Action at the End with a "Ready" Message?

Hi,
glad that everything works fine
what kind of message would you like?
For example, we have Send E-mail action and you can put it after all actions in your tool, so PDF Tools will notify you with "The Job is done" message.

I am looking for a very simple solution, the e-mail is already too complex.
A simple window saying "Job done" -> OK would absolutely suffice. Something like this:

Re: PDF-Tools - Ready Message after running Job
Hello RufusRed,
There should be a progress bar in the PDF Tools window itself - so if you have access to the machine running the batch you can quickly check that. Such a prompt is rather interruptive - so if you have other tasks running on the same machine it might not be the best idea to use it. And if you are away from the machine - the e-mail option if used with a mail account your phone syncs automatically should also be a good solution. I do not think there are plans to introduce such a pop-up notification when a job is complete.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello RufusRed,
Could you, please, concretize what is your use case for this kind of message? Perhaps then we could suggest the most efficient way to solve your problem.

Hello Vladimir,
I just want to give the users feedback that the script has been executed and the users can now continue to use the PDF file.

Re: PDF-Tools - Ready Message after running Job
Hello RufusRed,
What type of files do you have that you both need to batch process and users to work on them?
Can you please elaborate a bit on the actual use case?
Are your batch processing scripts being run by the users themselves, or do you start them e.g. from the command line? If starting from command line - are you doing it as the logged in user, or as a different (e.g. some system) user?
Can those batches be scheduled to run e.g. overnight when the users are not using the files - and the need for such a message will then disappear?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: PDF-Tools - Ready Message after running Job
Hello Stefan,
these are exclusively PDF files which are started by the users via a Shortcut on the desktop.
After processing the script, I would like a message that everything is ready (for example with an "OK" button).

Hello, RufusRed
Thank you for the additional information about your use case.
As we said previously, we don't support such notification, but you can implement it by yourself using the 'Run Application' action.
Add the 'Run Application' action to the end of your custom tool, and choose the attached VBS script(in ZIP archive) in the 'Run Application' action.
Also, you could edit the VBS script to meet your needs, or use another executable available on users' PC.
If you have any questions about using the 'Run Application' or example script, feel free to ask.

Hello Vladimir,
Please excuse my late reply, I was on Christmas break. I just tried your suggestion, it works great. Thank you very much.
