rectangle format tab start end line style
there's a start and end line style button in the format tab when using the rectangle comment type (like with the arrow/line comment type)
but I'm not able to remove it, maybe it's a glitch, because rectangles don't seem to have line starting/ending styles

Re: rectangle format tab start end line style
Hi MedBooster,
This is off topic, but generally, while the Rectangle Comment tool is selected, the settings of "Line Starting Sytle" and "Line Ending Style" are automatically grayed out as shown in the image below, and the settings cannot be changed.
From the image you show, it seems that these settings are not grayed out and can be changed. If I am not mistaken, this is a rather irregular situation. I think the Tracker support staff would like to know the procedure to reproduce this situation.
Best regards,
rakunavi

Re: rectangle format tab start end line style
Hello rakunavi, MedBooster,
Med booster has taken the screenshot while in "Customize Toolbars" mode - that's why they are not greyed out.
In normal daily use - they will indeed be greyed out and inactive.
As for why those are there - the Format tab is dynamically updating for the different categories of tools selected, but it seems like the "line endings" part is there for all comments/annotations, and we just disable it for e.g. rectangles rather than hide it completely.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: rectangle format tab start end line style
Hello, rakunavi
AS for the original question, why they are present. That would be because many of the commenting tools share the barebones "core" of the format tab, there are some items present which are not compatible with every comment which can active the format tab, but instead of making a separate tab for each tool, we consolidated them into a small selection of shared versions.

Re: rectangle format tab start end line style
Hi Daniel, thank you for your comment.
I am not in a position to comment on MedBooster's original question, but I am happy with the current UI with the buttons grayed out and would like nothing more. I think there are also advantages to having the same buttons in familiar places, regardless of whether they are enabled or disabled.
Best regards,
rakunavi

Re: rectangle format tab start end line style
You might have a point there if removing the line start and line end would not actually change the layout , or change it too muchrakunavi wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 10:48 pm Hi Daniel, thank you for your comment.

Re: rectangle format tab start end line style
Hello MedBooster,
Thanks for the understanding! Indeed, for the time being, we are not planning on updating that button layout and dynamically hide the ones that we currently disable.
Kind regards,
Stefan
