"select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
v 9.3.361.0 PDF-Xchange Editor
Normally when I select multiple items (Select Comments} and paste, it results in an exact duplicate in the layout of the items.
see example: and paste: On a new drawing I am working on, it results in a mess.
Example of what is copied: Example of the resultant paste command: Can you please let me know what is going on?
Thanks

Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
Hello, gordon808
This would typically occur if some of the content items you have selected are at variable rotation orientations, and/or the page you are pasting onto is a different orientation from the page you are copying from. We have made improvements to the handling in these situations with recent builds, but it seems there are still some cases left unaddressed.
Could I ask you for a copy of this document, so that I can show the dev team and have them see what we can do?
Kind regards,

Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
i can attach the drawing. certainly the lines are at variable rotations but i don't think anything else is. the sheets are the same size.
Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
After some experimenting, the select comments and paste works fine as long as it is on the same sheet, when I try to move the comments to another sheet, it gets jumbled. It appears that the two sheets are slightly different sizes as one was from a drawing set I imported and the other was added through the program.

Hello, gordon808
Thank you for the sample file, I see the issue here, but unfortunately have not yet discovered a viable workaround for the problem.
I have passed it along to the Dev team in a formal bug report, hopefully the Dev team will get to this in sort order, but I cannot promise that we will have time to fix it before this next release.

Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
Hello all,
Has the orientation/offset of the documents/pages in question already been reset? If not, I'd suggest trying this. It normally prevents things like the present issue from happening, at least if the page sizes are not (too) different.

Hello David.P,
Thanks for this suggestion! I hope it does help gordon808.
If the page dimensions are different - then manual adjusting will be needed in most cases anyway!
Kind regards,
Stefan

Yow! Good find. Is this an obscure feature or what? There is no reference to it I can find in the on-line Help. I am not really sure how to use it. Is there any narrative on this?
All best,

Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
Hello PHK,
It is one of hundreds if not thousands of features in the Editor, so it does not have it's dedicated page or a KB article, as once you notice it it is pretty self explanatory but it is also mentioned in the manuals both as a V9 added feature:
https://help.pdf-xchange.com/pdfxe ... =normalize
and in the article about about Resize Pages where it can be used:
https://help.pdf-xchange.com/pdfxe ... es_ed.html
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
Nowhere in those citations do the words "Normalize Pages" appear together nor is there mention of David.P's found Normalize Pages function. IF there are hundreds or thousands of features as you say, some are bound to be more obscure than others. I love the breadth of functions in PDF-XCE but that does not mean they cannot be better documented and explained.Tracker Supp-Stefan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 1:49 pm Hello PHK,

Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
Hello, PHK
I have to be honest, I also didn't know we offered a feature like this outside of the resize pages function, and looking through the manual, it seems our writer was not informed either. I am passing this along to him to document and add to the manual.
Could I ask where/how you located this option in the default UI? It appears be be organized with your Arrange options in the screenshot above, but does not seem to be appearing under any context we can locate. Is this something that is still only available by searching and manually adding the command to the toolbar?

David.P discovered it, not me.

Re: "select comments" and "paste" results in a jumbled mess
Oops, I hope that I have not created any confusion here
This feature, which I also had been missing for a long time (for similar reasons as with Gordon's issue), to my knowledge is brand new in PDF-XChange Editor.
It has already made positioning comments and page content massively easier for me hundreds of times. I hope it will help in the present case as well.
I am not sure if and in which main or context menu this feature is normally located. In any case it is accessible via the great Quick Launch box of PDF-XChange Editor, by simply starting to type "norma..." there:
Since I need the feature often, I have put it at a place in a menu where I can easily find it, by means of UI customization.
Best regards
David

Hello David.P,
Yes - it can be added in there as well, and glad to hear that you've added it to your menus!
Kind regards,
Stefan
