"Compare documents" to compare comments?

Post by igorlima »

Hi all!

First of all, thank you for the compare documents function! It's really good and useful.

Is it possible to, in the future, use this function to compare comments too? Like highlights and text inside comments stickers? It would be really cool!

Thank you for the support!

Hello, igorlima

These are all planned features, this is still very much the early days of compare documents, worry not, great things are coming.

Is it possible to print out the resulting differences, but select to hide some, while printing others?

Hello CLIN1,

When you do your comparison and see the "Compare Results" page - you can then switch to e.g. the Edit content tool, and select elements on it to remove - you can then print out the redacted version of that page to a new PDF file:

That makes sense to print a redacted document, I was talking about printing out the list of changes itself, but not including ALL changes in the list, just ones we wish to highlight or call out.

Does that make more sense now?

Hello CLIN1,

Can you please prepare some mock up illustrating what you get now and what you want to achieve, so that I am 100% sure I understand your idea?

Kind regards,
Stefan

I will try, yes, thank you.
This is the exact verbiage of the request I received from my licensed user:
How do I print just the unchecked differences?

These:
Uncheked.png
Uncheked.png (3.89 KiB) Viewed 392 times

Not these:
Checked.png
Checked.png (8.5 KiB) Viewed 392 times
And just the comments, not the full report.
ListOfComments.png
So the user wants to print the list of comments, but not all of them only the ones they've unchecked.
Apparently this is part of a document review process.

Hopefully I've explained it adequately this time.

TIA

Hello, CLIN1

This can be done with a few extra clicks, when it is time to summarize these comments, look to the comment tab, and click "show > checked > unmarked":
image.png
This will turn all the "checked" comments, invisible, then you can use the "summarize comments" button (directly to the left of the show button), and ensure that the option to "include invisible comments" is NOT enabled:

With that, you will then get a summary document containing only the comments in the file which were unchecked. Following that, you can of course use the other "show" options to export other bundles of comments, and, use the "All" option to restore full visibility of all comments again.
