Linux fix for border bleed-through

Post by ds1 »

For anyone else who might have this issue, this is to report a fix for a border issue when using PDF-XChange Editor version 9 with WINE in Linux.

In Linux, the border of the program shows through when it is below another application. To fix this, select "Windows Version 10" in winecfg. This has been verified to work in the current Debian stable (v. 11) using KDE plasma.

Selecting Windows Version 10 for WINE puts a normal title bar across the top of the application window. The Quick Access and the Quick Launch toolbars can be disabled for a clean look.

Also, to prevent the items in the original title bar from peeking below the title bar set by WINE, in winecfg, go to the Desktop Integration tab and under Item, select the Active Title Bar. Set the size to a larger size. A size of "26" works well for me.

If you would really prefer the Windows 10 look, disable the "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows" option.
