How to remove ALL highlight backgrounds in text (in one step)?

Post by clsven »

Assume I load a pdf doc into PDF Viewer.
This text (with many pages) contains lots of highlighted text.

Ok, I could manually select each highlight text and remove the highlights step by step.

This is tedious and uncomfortable.

How can I remove ALL highlights in one step?

Hi, clsven

If you open the comments pane (Ctrl_M) you can choose to "group by type":

Then select all highlights in the document in a single click, and press "delete" on your keyboard to delete all of them.

Hi, this procedure is really really cumbersome and not at all intuitive. Couldn't you just provide a button that clears all highlights?

Hello areus_engineering_gmbh,

It is literally two or three clicks to group annotations by type, and then select your highlights and delete them with the Del key. Adding more menus and items for features that are already available and in the relevant location (the comments pane, with Highlights being one of several types of annotations) is we believe a good solution.

Alternatively - you can create your own custom button that will go through all the annotations in a PDF file and remove any that are highlights:

Kind regards,
Stefan
