Odd Spacing in Add Text Text Boxes

Post by shade-cabin-hammock »

Hi,

Using the Add Text tool:

I'll drag some box sizes to add the text in. Seems like, unless the box is of a certain width, I'll get some WIDE spaces for single spaces.

Tried with different fonts and at different font sizes.

What do you think is happening?

Is there any global text setting I should be configuring to get around this?

Using these as comment boxes for somewhat technical documents so the spacing actually could be reason to throw people. Need to avoid if possible.

I've attached a sample PDF file created with PDF-X to illustrate.

Sincerely,

SCH

Hello, shade-cabin-hammock

This will typically occur with "justified" or "justify all" text alignment enabled, if you are seeing this happen frequently, it may be that you have that property set as part of your default text properties. You can learn how to change your default text properties here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowle ... DF-XChange

In this particular case however, it appears that your document is using a modified version of the Arial font, as changing it back to the "default" version of Arial presented in the fonts menu resolves the issue. (click image to watch Gif animation)

Hi Daniel,

Ah! Makes sense as fonts are all over the net, perhaps somehow I got a squirrelly Arial. :P :D But, I feel confused. Take a look here. I went with two that I KNOW are Microsoft out-of-the-box legit, and got the same results?

What do you think is happening?

Hello, shade-cabin-hammock

My apologies, remember me vague mention of justification settings? In my post I skimmed over it, but I did also need to change those values back to proper alignment, before changing the font to something that properly respects these settings.
