When I check "Rasterize content with overlapping objects" in the "Sanitize Document Options" window [1], the hidden text is removed. How to avoid this by merging all layers except the hidden text one?

Re: Rasterize all layers except hidden text
Hello Jensen Head,
You are asking the Editor to rasterize everything and make your page a flat image - so it is expected that this invisible text was removed (it was actually flattened in the rasterization process). I am not aware of a way to use this specific sanitization option and keep your text.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Rasterize all layers except hidden text
1. Select hidden text, copy it, merge all layers, paste?
2. Make a copy of the document, delete all images in it, merge the layers in the original document, merge the two documents with an overlay (like this is not possible in the PDF-Tools now)?

Re: Rasterize all layers except hidden text
Do you have a lot of files to do this on?
I don't think that PDF-Tools will be able to fully automate this.
Do you get the results you are after when doing it manually in the Editor?

No, these are just my thoughts on how you can try to implement this at the level of additional application tools. It is hardly possible to do this manually due to the inevitable offsets of the text layer relative to the images.Paul - Tracker Supp wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 4:40 pmDo you get the results you are after when doing it manually in the Editor?

Aaah - OK - well I think I will ask the dev team their thoughts on this.
They are pretty busy today, hopefully I will get the chance to have a chat with them about his today.

Re: Rasterize all layers except hidden text
Were you able to consult? Is it possible to somehow implement the discussed functionality?
I tried to create two copies of the document - a document with only hidden text, and a document with only other objects. Then merge the objects in the second document, and use the "Import as Layer Overlay" [1] tool to merge the two documents:
_ _
The result is what I need. But as far as I understand it can't be used for batch processing right now.
[1] Overlay a destination PDF document with a selected source PDF document.

Sorry Jensen Head,
never did have that discussion. My bad, I let things get away from me.
I'll be sure to bring it up later today when I anticipate seeing the dev concerned.

Re: Rasterize all layers except hidden text
It is likely that the implementation of the discussed functionality will affect the "Optimize PDF" settings window. Currently, in the "Discard User Data" tab there is only the item "Discard hidden layer content, and flatten visible layers". This item combines all objects including hidden text objects.

Hello, Jensen Head
Thank you for the observation, I cannot say with certainty if there will be any impact in this area from implementing such a feature, but you may be correct. Only time will tell.
