image layout

Post by usmleci »

Hi Sir,

I want to create a new pdf files from several image files and each page contains 2 images.

I try to play around with "image layout settings" but I always get the same results: one big image and one small image.

Any comments?

Thanks,

Hello usmleci,

Could you please tell us what version is your PDF Editor?

You can see that information in the PDF Editor's Help -> About menu.

Also, could you please show us the settings you have set during the merging?

Regards.

Hello, usmleci

Thank you for confirming that, In this case, I will need to ask you to update the software to version 9.2, build 359.0, as I have just tried to reproduce this with your settings and could not do so. I suspect that this may be part of the issue, and knowing if the issue occurs after the update will help us to find out what is going on.

Hi Daniel,

I just update my version V9.1 to V9.2 and the same issue is there: one big picture and one small picture in one PDF file and they overlay on each other.

Thanks,

Hello, usmleci

Thank you for confirming. In that case, I will need to ask for the original images you are using to reproduce this, as well as a settings export. You can export your settings by clicking File > manage settings > export settings. If you do not wish to send the images on our public forum, you can send me an email, with a link to this post, and all three of those items. Our email address is support@pdf-xchange.com

Hello, usmleci

Thank you for the images, I have also received your email, and with those settings I have successfully reproduced the issue. I am as of yet unsure why this is happening, but it does not appear to be reproducible with the default application settings.

I will be sending this off to the Dev team for investigation shortly, but in the meantime, I wanted to share a workaround for the time being. Assuming you are not too attached to your application settings. If you use the "file > manage settings > reset settings" function, you can revert the software to the default settings, at which point, you will be able to merge images as you need without trouble. If you happen to find out which setting you changed that caused this, please let me know.

So long as you keep the settings export your sent me today, you will be able to restore (import) your settings at any time in the future.

[Update]: a ticket has been created to track this item, while internal only, I will share the ticket number here for reference:
RT#5905: Create file from images overlaps images

Hi Daniel,

A follow-up question:

I have to repeatedly create a single pdf file from many text documents based on different subjects: one subject for one pdf file and each subject contains many text documents.

After importing multiple text documents for the first subject, I set up my setting about pdf format like fonts and layout, etc. and create a pdf file.

How can I reuse the same settings in the future without presetting the same settings again and again?

Thanks,

Hello, usmleci

If you mean the "new document > from text file" function, the options in that dialog are remembered after you use them once, so if you need the same font and paragraph formatting for all the files you process, there should not be any need to make changes after the first time.

Hi Daniel,

Sorry for this long email chain.

1) I cannot find the correct place to create a new post. Where is it?

2) A quick question: Can pdf X-change editor open all pdf files in a folder or subfolder format?

I search this forum but cannot find the answer.

Hello, usmleci

To create a new forum post, you simply need to enter the relevant forum (Choose one here), and then use the "new topic" button in the top left area of the page: index.php

As for opening multiple files, yes we can, simply open the editor and choose "File > open" Then navigate to the folder in question, and select the multiple files you wish to open at once, and press "open".

Hi Daniel,

I can open multiple files using the editor.

But the feature I need is to open a FOLDER and the editor will look for this folder and/or its subfolder and AUTOMATICALLY load all pdf files for me, like the function in merging multiple pdf files into one single one.

Just wonder if this feature is available in the editor?

Thanks,

I'm afraid not.

You will need to open the folder and use CTRL+a to select all items in a folder.
