search bar visualisation error
Dear Tracker-Team,
recently, my search bar (ctrl+F) has started to look like this: I assume this is a visualisation error?!
Cheers

Re: search bar visualisation error
Thank you Dimitar,
unfortunately, resetting the toolbars including deleting my custom toolbars didn't help.
I would like to avoid a complete reinstall.
Cheers

Re: search bar visualisation error
Hi, User4455
Please try the following (be extremely careful as this is a registry edit and a mistake could result in other errors occurring)
1. Ensure that all instances of our Editor are closed
2. open you start menu and search for regedit.exe, run it
3. once the registry editor is opened, enter the following into the address bar:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Settings\DocFind
4. Now, locate the "DocFind" key, and delete it (note that this will also clear out your previous "find" search history)
5. Relaunch the Editor, and open a document first, then use Ctrl+F to open the find window.
Let me know if this helps!
Kind regards,

Re: search bar visualisation error
Thank you Daniel!
Unfortunately, this did not help.
The search bar still looks the same. Also, the DocFind-Key is back, but I assume that is intended.
I think I will go for a reinstall after all. I will let you know about the result.
I have a different machine with current build and working search bar, so there is probably just something messed up.
Cheers.

In that case, please follow these instructions for a clean installation of our products:

After that, let me know if this resolves the problem.

Re: search bar visualisation error
I did a clean reinstall. Did not help.
I am pretty sure I precisely followed the steps indicated in the linked thread.
Also, I kind of forgot to save all my settings in pdf-tools, which is a bit annoying but my own fault.
Anyway, I noticed something interesting. There are cases, in which the search bar works, and cases ,in which it does not. (Actually, I had this feeling before but wasnt able to reproduce it)
So it's like this:
I have three 2k-Screens (they appear to behave alike) and one 4k-screen
If i call ctrl+f on the 4k-screen (and have not called it before in the same tab on a 2k screen) the search bear is fine.
The moment i call ctrl+f on the 2k-screen, the tab "gets broken" in that the search bar is like in the picture above and stays like this. When I move that tab to the 4k-screen, the search bar stays broken, even if i close the search bar and call it again by ctrl+f.
Is this comprehensible?
Note, that this behaviour only started with my last update as indicated above (which was from 336, i believe). I am running the editor for years and it did not behave like that before.

Re: search bar visualisation error
So, do you see any change when you modify the "UI Scaling"-setting, via the File/Edit-menu > Preferences > General, and then restart PDF-XChange Editor ?
Best regards.
Best regards.

Re: search bar visualisation error
Hi, User4455
We have so far been unable to reproduce this on any of our machines here. Can I ask you to verify that you do not have any third party desktop/window/scaling software on your machine which may have an effect on the size or scaling of any process running on the machine?
If you do, please disable it (some of those softwares require uninstallation and a system restart to be fully disabled) and see if the issue is still present in our Editor when that is not present?
Kind regards,

Re: search bar visualisation error
There is no third party desktop/window/scaling software that I know of.
As far as I know, windows does the whole scaling, with the following options:
...
OK, I just tried switching from "System (erweitert)" to "System". Apparently, it solved the problem. I will report in a couple of days if this solution proves permanent.
I note in this regard, that there are three options: Anwendung (en: application), System, System (erweitert)
The option "Anwendung" is problematic with screens of different solutions, which is why i changed it a long time ago. However, I never knew the difference between the other two options. Now I know one difference
Thank you all!
