Fill rectangle with color which does not obscure underlying text

Post by gopher_everett » Mon Oct 22, 2018 2:15 am

Hello,

Is it possible to fill a rectangle or other shape with a highlight-type of color which does not obscure the underlying text?

For example, when a color is applied to a selection of text using the highlight tool, the text is not obscured at all. But if a fill color is applied to a rectangle overlying an area of text, the fill completely obscures the text. In that case, the only way to make the text visible at all is to adjust the opacity setting of the fill color, but even with the opacity at its lowest setting (20%), the text has a dull appearance.

Thanks

Hello gopher_everett,

Could you please send us an example file so we can see what you are trying to achieve and give you the best resolution?

If it will be convenient for you, you can also send the file to: support@tracker-software.com

Regards.

Maybe I misunderstand what you're trying to do, but have you tried choosing a light color and setting blend mode to multiply (with 100% opacity)? I often use that for highlighting blocks of text.

Hello gopher_everett,
As Lena said, multiply is the tool function you are looking for, This KB article should help if you have any questions: https://www.tracker-software.com/knowle ... tly-images

Following on with this subject.

Is it possible to keep a box outline without being effected by the opacity setting. i.e I want to highlight an area with a low level opacity colour (yup I'm not American ;-) ) but keep the box line at its full colour. This will enable the highlighted area to stand out more even with a low level opacity on the box fill colour which currently is not happening since the box outline is also, to my mind, unnecessarily being adjusted.

Since I have not found any way of distinguishing the difference between box outline and box content and If there is indeed no way of doing this, is it possible to include some way of separating this in an update ???

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is not a direct way to do this.

As a workaround, you can set the box border to 0 and then draw a rectangle around the content:

However, I will send your request to our developers to consider this option for implementation.

Dimitar

Thanks for the response.

A bit of a long winded work around if one has several areas one wants to highlight.

Appreciate you forwarding the request to developers. I wonder if its an easy fix ?

Anyway, I wait in anticipation for a possible inclusion in an update. :-)

Regards

Hello,

Just revisiting my query on comment box opacity and how it also impacts that of the box border.

Will there be any progress on this. Maybe a flag in the format menu to allow opacity to be overridden on the border ?

Regards
Mark
