Can't see any layer in the layer pane

Hi!

Why can I not see any layer in the pane?

Hi Will!

If I open any pdf document it contain a number of layers.
But I can't see any of those in the layer pane. Why not?
But I can create a new layer, and that one is listed in layer pane.

Nils-Olof: Please do attach the sample. Layers are quite a specific thing and it may be that visually it appears as though there are layers, but none have actually been specified.
