Tracker PDF-Xchange Editor Version Differences - query

Post by AusJohn »

I'm having a little difficulty adapting to what seems like some differences between PDF-Xchange Editor 7 and PDF-Xchange Editor 8, and would like some help.

* PROBLEM 1 *

Using PDF-Xchange Editor 7.0.328.2 (Portable) I see:

File, Document Properties, Initial View -

- Navigation View
- Page Layout
- Magnification
- Open to Page

Using PDF-Xchange Editor 8.0.330.0 (Portable) I see:

File, Document Properties, Initial View -

- Navigation View
- Page Layout

"Magnification" is 'missing', so I've tried to modify a document by changing the magnification in the bottom status bar, then saving the document.

When opened again using PDF-Xchange Editor 8.0.330.0 (Portable) it opens at 75% (as expected), but when I open it in Adobe Reader 11.0.23 it opens at 100%.

The questions are:

1. why, and

2. how do I change the magnification of a document so that it opens at the desired magnification in any PDF reader?

* PROBLEM 2 *

With version 7, when I opened a document that had a magnification of 100% in Adobe Reader, it opened at 100%.

Now, with version 8, when I open a document that had a magnification of 100% in Adobe Reader, it opens at 165.76%.

The questions are:

1. why, and

2. how do I get a document to open at it's "normal/correct" magnification?

In Preferences, under Page Display, I have Default Page Zoom set to 100%. Even when I check 'Respect document's settings' it still opens at 165.76% instead of 100%.

Any help and suggestions you can offer will be most appreciated.

Hello AusJohn,

As for the first problem - try clicking on the Action Type combobox - then you can select either Goto Page or Custom. There you will find the options that you are missing.
As for the second problem, we suspect, that you have opened that document previously and the results of the last session were saved with the zoom of 165.76%, thus the result.

Cheers,
Alex

I'm having the same problem. I'm not sure where to find the Action Type ComboBox referred to in the solution.
