deleted pages do not reduce file size
Dear all,
I use PDF Tracker to separate scanned documents. Unfortunately, the file size seems to be unchanged even if i reduced the number of pages (via deleting pages) significantly.
For example: a scanned document with 10 pages has a file size of 10mb. After opening it and delete pages no 6 -10 and save it under a new file Name. After that i open the original doc again, delete pages no 1-5 and save it under another file name. The result is that all three documens have the same file size of 10mb.
The only workaround I have right now is to print the document as a pdf instead of saving it, but this is not as comfortable as saving it.
I appreciate your assistance.
Best regards, Robert

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the post - I believe that this was a known issue in an older release. Can you please confirm that you are using Version 8 Build 331 (Help --> About)?
Cheers,

Hi Robert,
That's odd. Can you please send a set of before and after samples for us to look at here?

Hi Robert,
Thanks for that - I've deleted the attachment as requested. I'm not able to reproduce this here. Can you please walk me through your process step-by-step? Please be sure to include even the most minor detail, as it could be key to reproducing the issue.

Re: deleted pages do not reduce file size
Hi Will,
of course, i will have a try.
The scanned document "20190312_161015_000209 p1-3.pdf" consists of 3 pages and has a size of 1.715 kb.
I opened this, deleted page 2 and 3 and saved it under the file Name "20190312_161015_000209 p1 new.pdf". Then I opened "20190312_161015_000209 p1-3.pdf" again (which is unchanged as i saved the changed file under a new name), deleted page 1 and 2 and saved it under the file Name "20190312_161015_000209 p3 new.pdf".
It was and is surprising for me that all three files have nearly the exact size, at which the two docs consisting of only one page are a Little bit bigger.
If you work with documents consisting of ten and more pages this behaviour is annoying.
Best regards
Robert

Re: deleted pages do not reduce file size
Hi Robert,
How specifically are you deleting the pages? There are several ways to do this so it's important that we know exactly what you're doing.

Hello Robert,
I did not have access to your original file to see if there was anything file specific causing this on your end, but None of us over here have been able to reproduce this with our miscellaneous test files, or any newly created documents. Might I ask you to resend the document that you sent before, this time via Email so that it can be stored securely without being made publicly available. If you can, please send it to support@pdf-xchange.com.com with a link to this forum post.

Dear Daniel,
I resent the documents just a few seconds ago. Unfortunately, I have this issue with a lot of documents.
Thank you in advance.

Hello
Can it be that the parameter "Always use Incremental Save" is turned ON in File (or Edit) > Preferences > Documents ?
If so, turn in OFF and try again.
Best regards.
