No target language shown in the drop-down list

No target language shown in the drop-down list

PDF-XChange Editor Plus Version 8.0 ,Build 331.0;

What I want is to use Chinese (simplified or traditional) in Enhanced OCR mode.


EnhancedOCR plugin is ON;

I failed several times to add additional language,

Failure to update online
So I download language pack from website https://www.tracker-software.com/pdf-xchange-viewer-ocr , installation successful , but the target language never show up in the drop-down list.
I download package for all supported languages: https://www.tracker-software.com/OCRAdd ... sTotal.zip . it does not work either.

In order to OCR Chinese, I have to turn back to Default OCR mode. In that case, I do see Chinese languages in the drop-down list.

This means that I am unable to use Enhanced OCR, pls help on this issue,thanks!

Hello Motai,

I have been unable to reproduce this so far, but would advise that you attempt reinstalling the software to see if that resolves the issue.
While you are doing that, can you tell me if you have a custom install directory currently, if so, could you please provide the path to it here?

Hi, Daniel.

My system is Win 10 Home , X64 platform.

I uninstalled the software and re-installed, all in default setting.

the software is installed into directory C:\Program Files\Tracker Software

the additional languages are installed into the below directory.

I see in the directory
C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF Editor\PluginsData\OCRLanguages
there are Chinese simple and tradidional.


But the drop-down list remains the same

Hi Motai,

Thanks for the post - The installer that you are using installs the language files for the standard OCR, and you are using the Enhanced OCR. Please use this button to add languages for the Enhanced OCR:

Yes, I tied , but unable to install successfully,
downloading speed is very slow , and cannot complete the downloading process. do you have separate installation pack for this ?

Hi Motai,

I'm afraid that we don't have stand alone installers for these, as they are not our language packs, but are provided by Lead Tools (we license their technology for the Enhanced OCR). Are you running a firewall? If so, please try temporarily disabling it, or allow download access as we haven't received any other complaints here, to the best of my knowledge.
