How to edit a scanned / ocr document

Post by davidmathieu »

Hello to all,

I'm searching since hours about the change of a scanned document. I just scan a doc, do an ocr on it, select the text I want to change, but I can't change anything.

Can you help me please?

thanks,

Hello David,

Welcome to our forums.

Please take a look at the following knowledge base article to find out how to edit OCR'ed documents:
How do I edit document text after OCR has been performed

Hello,

Yes I saw this page, but It is not what I want to do... not completely

I explain:

I received some printed documents with text error. We use in the past Adobe Acrobat DC for that, with ocr and we change the errors on.

In your solution, you say 'delete the image originals, but if I do that, I lost all page format and it is not what I want. I want to edit a text on a scanned document.

Is this possible?

thanks,

Hello Davidmathieu,

It is not possible at this exact moment, however with the version 8 release upcoming, we will be offering a new OCR plugin that will be capable of creating an editable document directly from a scanned page, without removing the images. Exactly as you desire.

We hope to release this update around the end of this month, if you have active maintenance when this release goes live, you will have immediate access to the new OCR plugin after the update. There will be a new news article going live tomorrow with more information about this as well: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/compan ... ess_events

Hello,
I'm on Win 10 x64, on pdfxchange version 8 build 331.0 (enhanced ocr), but when I OCR a document the text is still unable to be edited. Am I missing something, as the new version is supposed to allow editing of ocr'd text?

UPDATE: It seems I can edit only in the Edit Text Elements as Blocks mode. Is this the only way?
Thank you!

Hello Larry,

That is correct, When Edit text as blocks is enabled, text editing is possible, if you turn off Edit text as blocks, than the Editor assumes you are moving text content around and do not wish to work with the base text itself.
