PDF-Tools batch printing to PDF with Acrobat Reader

Post by Sam Chen »

Hi,

I have lots of PDF files that can only be open by Acrobat Reader (the files cannot be read by PDF-Tools or other PDF readers). I can open the PDF file by Acrobat Reader and print it to PDF using the PDF-XChange printer one by one successfully. I would like to use PDF-Tools to batch print them to PDF files that can be read by any other PDF reader. Please advise how can I do this?

Regards,
Sam

Hello Sam Chen,

Is it possible to send us one of the files, with which you have this issue?

Please send it to support@pdf-xchange.com.

We need this file so we can investigate the reason for this issue.

Sorry that I can't send the file as it is confidential. But I can share more below of your investigation.

1. The files can only be open by Acrobat Reader
2. It can only be open when I have internet access
3. When I open it with PDF-XChange Editor. It says "Error [Pdf Structure Library]: Unknown/unsupport security handler."

I am wondering for the "Conver Files to PDFs" in PDF-Tools. Is it possible to choose "Acrobat Reader" as converter instead of MS Word or Excel?

Thanks,
Sam

I am afraid that it is not possible to use Adobe to convert PDF within Tools.

Would you be able to create a version of one of these documents that contains no sensitive information, so that you could share it and we can look into possible workarounds?
As this is not an Editor specific issue, but an Adobe issue instead, the best we can do is try to make the Editor (and/or tools) understand the format, and for that we need a document that shows this issue.

Have a nice day!
