Merge Pages

Post by Arnold »

The Merge Pages feature is really useful. There is an option to remove source pages. This removes pages that are merged, but the pages not merged remain, full size.

Would it be possible to add an additional option to remove all source pages period, so only merged pages remain? This would be great when random pages are selected, and they are the only ones needed in the new pdf.

Thanks.

Hi Arnold,
Thank you for the suggestion. I have made it into a feature request.

Hello Arnold,

Well I do not see a value for such a flag except minor case usage like this, and by implementing this flag, the dialog itself will become bloated. To do the operation that you want, you can Extract the needed pages into a new document and then do the merge pages operation - you will get the desired result.

Cheers,
Alex

Cool feature - didn't know that it existed.
I just tried it with a new blank pdf-file containing 2 pages.
Using the typewriter tool I marked the first page with "1" and the second page with "2".
After the merging process I had 3 pages (I kept the original pages)but the information written with the typewriter was gone.
So the third page contained only 2 merged empty pages.
The merging process works does work with downloaded pdf-files but added information via typewriter or rectangle tool
(didn't try other tools) seem to be lost after the merging process.
Am I doing something wrong or are there options that I inadvertently activated?

I am using the latest build 326.0

Hello HaPe,

Managed to reproduce the problem (the annotations are shown in the preview pane, and disappear once you merge the pages), so I've created a ticket for our devs to fix it:
#4426: Editor 326: Merge Pages removes annotations.

Hello HaPe,

Each build has a Features list and also, a release video for quite some time now. Here are the release notes for the latest release along with the video link:

I do understand that the pages can be extracted prior to merging. However, when you are in the middle of selecting pages to merge and you realize you want to create a new file, it is then time consuming to back out and go into extract mode and choose the pages again, etc. Obviously you guys would be better able to assess if this is a fringe case usage. I think it would be awesome, but I will end up using the Merge Pages feature extensively.

Thanks.

HI Arnold,

Patrick has already created the FR for the initial request, and it will be considered in due time.
And we will definitely also be working on the issue with the disappearing annotations.

Stefan

I don't know if Form Fields are considered annotations or not, but they also get erased by the Merge Pages feature. I discovered this by accident when I merged the wrong pdf.

Thanks.

Hi Arnold,
Thank you for the report,
I have updated the ticket to include this information, as well as to address another related issue I discovered while testing this.
