Suggestion for exit warning

Post by coffent »

It's all too easy for me to forget I have more than one document open when I click the "X" button to close the immediate document, and thus end up closing all open documents. It would be nice to have an option where the Viewer would ask before exiting, "Do you really want to close all documents?" when the "X" button is clicked when there is more than one document open.

If working with multiple documents, use the Navigation Tabs. These each have their own close button. The red X below the window close button will not close PDF-XChange, even if you close the last open document.

Yes I realize that. However I frequently forget and click the X at the top since that is the way one closes so many other applications. The only reason for the warning is to compensate for forgetfulness.

This is in the next build which has been delayed a few days to include a desperately needed developer request.

Should be released Monday.

Hallo!

Regarding this feature: How can the warning be enabled, when it was diabled unwittingly?

Hello Michael,

You will need to reset all prompts in the Viewer I believe in order to restore that.

Go to Edit -> Export all settings to Data file (to back up your current)
And then Use the Edit -> Reset all settings to default, and select NOT to keep the prompts list.

Best,
Stefan

Note that the above probably won't work with the portable version (there are no registry entries for a portable 'installation'). But Stefan's previous suggestion (Reset All Settings to Default...) should work just fine (back up your settings beforehand as suggested, in case the reset causes other problems).
