Feature Request - Zoom with mouse wheel during hand tool

I would like to be able to zoom with the mouse wheel while using the hand tool to pan.

Thank you for the post.

Please try holding Ctrl and use the mouse wheel. This should zoom in/out the document regardless of the tool selected.

Yes I know about Ctrl + mouse wheel but I would like to be able to use one hand. This is helpful when you are flipping thru document sheets with one hand and navigating a pdf with the other.

Is it still not possible to allow for zooming using the scroll wheel? This is basically the default behavior for 90% of the programs I use. Is it not possible to at least have a setting to adjust in the preferences to enable zooming with the scroll wheel?

Can you give me some examples please? I am keen to see this behaviour, as I must be using different programs from you. It's not common with the things I use and I would like to see how it is implemented.

These are the main programs I use on a regular basis that allow me to simply zoom using only the scroll wheel:

Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (Only after selecting the check box in preferences that states "Make Hand tool use mouse-wheel zooming")
Microsoft Visio
AutoCAD LT
Chief Architect Home Designer Pro
Microsoft MapPoint

I deal with a lot of blueprints and design documents, so I'm constantly zooming in and out and it is just so much easier to be able to simply zoom with the scroll wheel than to have to use a second hand to hold down the 'CTRL' key at the same time I use the scroll wheel.

I'm trying to get away from Adobe Acrobat altogether and use PDF X-Change exclusively for my PDF needs, but it is just so inconvenient to have to use both hands to zoom.

All I'm asking for is to have an option somewhere in the PDF X-Change Preferences that would allow me to change the default behavior of the mouse wheel while in Hand Tool mode, similar to how Adobe allows me to.

It's also at least optional on some image viewing apps like Faststone Image Viewer.

Personally I always set the thumb button on every mouse to CTRL, either forfeiting the "Back" button or putting on some other button. This way I can always use the combination of CTRL + wheel or CTRL + click with a single hand.

Here's hoping we get some traction on this feature request. I just switched to PDF-XChange from Acrobat and I'm definitely missing this functionality for working with blueprints.

The Dev team has informed me that they are looking into methods of offering this, but unfortunately for the moment it does seem that a highly complex system will be required to implement this. We could however take the "easy way out" and make it functionally worthless, like a checkbox in the settings to enable zoom when scrolling permanently, as some of our competitors have done. but as you would expect, we would rather take the functional route, sadly as it is both highly complex and relatively low priority, this will not be coming any time in the near future.

We are looking for other options to offer a less complex alternative, but for the time being unfortunately you will need to use the existing methods, such as holding Control while scrolling. My suggestion, if you have a mouse with more than 3 buttons, would be to bind one of those buttons to the Control key, so you can handle all your scrolling and zooming with the mouse alone.
