FREE PDF-XChange Viewer (pre release version) Now available

Pleased to announce that the Pre-Gold version of our New PDF-XChange Viewer is now available for download from the link below.

The 'Gold' release version will be available during November 2006.

How would I make this my default viewer? Also, are there any known conflicts with Adobe Acrobat being on the same machine? THX

If you install the latest release from here :

https://www.pdf-xchange.com/downloads/users/

You should be offered the choice of making our Viewer your default - however I would suggest you hold off doing so until the final release is made available just before the Christmas holidays.

You will experience no conflicts with Adobe's Reader as they are both 100% independant of each other.

I would suggest since you have made this pre-gold a public release, and since it contains a choice (both install and program preferences) to make the viewer your default - it should contain a preference choice to undo that as well - and make the previous choice (most likely Adobe) the default again - inexperienced computer users (and potential future customers of other Tracker Software products) might find the lack of an undo an unpleasant experience!

Also, opening splash screen - love the rainbow - shows the forum url, and again I realize you'll ramp up the Help/about choices on gold release, but an About choice for the forum would be nice even now. Yes, they can click on the about URL for info about other products AND then make their way to the Forum choice - but make it easier now.

Great alternative to that resource hound! both install and running! Congratulations!

Hi David,

Thanks for the comments and suggestions - on uninstalling the latest Viewer updated today does restore the previously used Viewer as the default (if there was one) and we will look to add an option within the Viewer preferences to restore this as well without uninstalling - though of course as I am sure you are aware it is possible to do so in Windows explorer by navigating to a PDF file and amending the file associations.
