"Recompress Images" / "Downsampling" / [...] %

Post by Jensen Head »

Please consider specifying not only the resolution of the images in the document (dpi), but percentages of the original size. This is convenient for scanned images for which the scan resolution is not known, but for the user to significantly reduce the file size, it is obvious that he is satisfied with reducing the resolution by two to three times.

Hello Jensen Head,

You can check the dimensions of scanned images in the content pane, and work out the actual DPI.
Also - the downsampling options offered will also automatically determine if an image (given it's pixel count and dimensions on the page) is below or above the threshold DPI - and only reprocess images that need to be reprocessed. That way you actually have more control over the images - as only larger and higher pixel count ones will be processed, while if you just reduce all images with X% you might end up with some images that are smaller than intended or become unreadable. The current setting I believe works fine and can be used as intended to achieve desired file reduction while preserving readability.

Kind regards,
Stefan
