PDF Password security

Post by nickthekid »

I'm considering purchasing, and using the trial now, but have a few password security questions:

1. Can I change passwords on multiple files in one batch job without creating another copy of the file? (ie if I periodically want to change passwords on a large number of files)

2. Can PDF Tools monitor for new files added to a folder and then act on them?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, nickthekid

Yes, PDF-Tools is able to do both of these. You will need to create a customized tool to open and remove security from the files, then reapply security with the new password, and finally save the file overtop of the original. This article provides details on how to create a custom tool: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/532-How-do-I-Create-Custom-Tools-in-PDF-Tools

As for folder monitors, This can be done by following the steps in this article: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/544-How-do-I-setup-Watched-Folders-in-PDF-Tools
