Hi,

I'd like to run the Secure PDF tool to add passwords existing files but the files are PDF/A. Is there a tool to remove PDF/A?

As I mentioned, I'd like to add passwords to existing PDF/A files so I can secure them. But, I can't secure the PDF/A files afterwards. i.e. in the end I'd like to have Secure PDF/A files

Here's what I did...

1. Run "Discard Special PDF-Standard" to remove the PDF/A.
2. Run "Secure PDF" to secure them.
3. Run "Convert to PDF/A". At this step, it asks for the password so it can process the files.

But, the resultant files are no longer secure as applied in step 2. Is there a workaround?

Apologies for that, It seems I misunderstood the issue there.

According to the ISO, PDF/A cannot have password security in place. You are not able to edit the document, or alter the security settings from what is set by the chosen standard. As such, there is no workaround for this.
