Hi,
I am helping to publish a book, its has 640 pages and a lot of images.
I create the PDFs with PDF/XChange Standard (PrePrint setting), printing from WORD chapter by chapter and then merging the chapters with PDF Tools.
The resulting file is 1GB.
Problem is now the Print on Demand services request the PDF/X format.
I do not find any option in the PDF printer settings to get direct PDF/X output. So I used the "Convert to PDF/X" tool, it works fine, output file size gets down to 228MB,
as it compresses the embedded images to level that is unacceptable for printing.
Is there a way to get uncompressed PDF/X files ?
Thanks
Guillermo

Re: PDF/X conversion issue
Hello Guillermo,
I've asked a colleagues from the dev team to take a look and let me know if there's some way to control the quality for converting to PDF/X, as I could not find such an option in the preferences available through the UI.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: PDF/X conversion issue
Hi gherlt,
I have workaround for you:
You can create intermediate PDF document using File->Save As Optimized... with options as in attachment. Your uncompressed images will be compressed with lossless ZIP filter.
And then you can save this optimized PDF document as PDF/X.
This should solve your problem.
Kind Regards

Re: PDF/X conversion issue
Thank you for the workaround DenisO,
In the meantime this will need to be an interim fix as there do not seem to be control options in tools for this yet.
Likely it will not be implemented in the next version, but soon we will have better PDF-X handling in the tools suite. Sorry for the wait!

Re: PDF/X conversion issue
In new build we planning to solve an issue for case when input document contains uncompressed or already zipped images - all those images will be compressed without loosing of quality.
