StackOverflowException while converting to PDF/A

Post by SonGokuOnBikeNext » Thu Oct 08, 2020 10:40 pm

Hi all,

within our application we are using the SDK to ensure to save a dedicated PDF file into a PDF/A file.
No problem with most of PDF files.

But some PDF files generate a StackOverflowException:
image.png
OK, this file contains more than 800 pages
But memory consumption should be OK:

So I identified the first page, throwing an error as single page.
And I get an other error, catched as exeption:
image2.png
And it's possible to reproduce this error inside PDF XChange Editor.
If I try to save this singe page as PDF/A, I get following error information:
image3.png
I hope to fix this 'character references error' inside SDK, before starting PDF/A conversion.

Thanks and best regards.

Hello Roland,

Can you please e-mail us to support@tracker-software.com a sample file, with a link back to this forum topic, and I will pass it on to our devs for investigation?

Kind regards,
Stefan

Hi, Roland

It seems that the file you sent us as a sample does not allow us to reproduce the entire issue as you have described. Would it be possible for you to resend us the full size 800 page document (we have an upload server for large files, described below) and post here when it is uploaded so we can restart the investigation.

To begin uploading the file, please navigate to this page and follow the instructions therein:

Hi Daniel,

sorry for my late response, but it took some time to get an approval from my customer to send the whole file.

But now it's on your upload server: <my_name>-StackOverflowException while converting to PDFA.PDF :D

Thanks and best regards
