We appreciate the feedback!

Hello there, I'm trying to help with Italian translation. I just downloaded the translator tool but I cannot find any Readme.txt as reported in the website https://www.pdf-xchange.com/editor_lang... any hint?

Hello maximator,

Apologies - seems like that test is a remnant from times past when there was a need of a readme file.
All you need to do now is extract everything from the archive in a folder, and then run the ODFXLocalizer.exe file. Navigate to the existing translation (so that you don't start from scratch and repeat work already done) in the Languages subfolder, and continue translating that. Any category that has untranslated strings will be shown in bold and those where all strings are translated will be with normal font weight.

Once done with the translation - send it to support@pdf-xchange.com and we will include it in the next build.

Also if you need help with any strings - please start a separate topic in this Translators forum, and we would be happy to help!

Regards,
Stefan

Hi,

I've been using free version of your excellent software for years, and with this new version I decided it's time to contribute, the only way I can, by translating into Swedish. The existing translation is far from complete and to tell you the truth... there is parts that is far from satisfactory translated as well. In my humble opinion, the entire translation needs to be evaluated and corrected... and of course, completed.

I am already half way through the translation, but I started to realize that I need access to pro version in order to create a quality translation. So now my question is, how can I install the evaluation copy? I've tried to, but didn't succeed. Can you give specific instructions?

Hello Eson,

Thanks for your interest in translating our products.
I presume you've already found the translation tools for the Editor and Tools:
https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... 64&t=25353
These should work without any installation.

And you can download and install the full Pro package from here:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product/pdf-xchange-pro
It should install without any license (it will ask you to enter a key but you can skip that step).

Also to keep this topic neat - may I suggest that we start a separate topic if you have any specific translation enquiries?

Regards,
Stefan

Is free license available for those who translated completely some plugin/s or about 20% of main Editor?
What if I have fixes for existing translations? Should I contact with translator?

Hi Logilink,

We usually issue a free license for a completed translation e.g. if you translate a 100% of the Editor - a free license for the Editor will be issued.
If the language that you would like to translate our products to already exists in our database, then it depends on the untranslated percentage. If this is the case, please do let us know the language you can translate the Editor to so we can check it and advise if a free license is available if you finish the current translation.

Radi

1. I'd like to fix many errors in my language translation (which was translated already by few people) and add untranslated things.
- I assume I have to download the newest version of it, fix it and send it to support@pdf-xchange.com?
- Is this possible that after some time other translators can change what I fixed/changed?
2. How to unpack xclpack files?
3. How to pack xcl files into xclpack file?

Hello Logilink,
Thank you for the continued interest.

1. By all means, you certainly can update/fix errors in your translation files.
- Yes, the most recent version is the only version we accept translations from, you can send an email, as youve asked, to support@pdf-xchange.com. Please detail what language you are wishing to update and we will check that no other active translators are already working on that translation.
- If you choose to translate the files independently, then yes, it is possible if the lanugage is included in the base install of the Editor (eg. czech, finnish, greek, etc) that your files will be overwritten during the update. Should you take that route, then i would recommend keeping a duplicate copy of the translated files in a secondary location, just incase.

2/3. All the required XCL files are included with the localizer tool, and do not need to be unpacked or repacked.
These are available for download here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/langua ... nge-editor
To use the localizer, this KB may help: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowle ... s-Properly

Every time some translation is updated you also update XCL files in the localizer tool zip file?
Do I have to send all translated XCL files to you?

Hi Logilink,

Thanks for the post - The new releases of the Language Tools should be 'shipped' with the latest language files sent from our users.
Do I have to send all translated XCL files to you?
You only need to send those that you've actually translated.

Cheers,

But the main xcl file in pdfxeditorlocalizer301 pack is older than the same file in xclpack of my language.
That's why I asked about unpacking xclpack - to work on the latest version. But never mind, I'll just install it and get xcl files from the program folder.
Thanks for the answer.

Hi Logilink,

That's interesting, thanks for that info. - I'll pass that along as I believe that they need to be updated if that's the case.
