Hello,
I installed portable version of XChangeViewer 2.5.212 and the port_OCR.zip file. It works for English OK.
When I run OCRAdditionalLangesCHI.exe, it shows "PDF Viewer and Editior was not installed -Installation aborted!"
Is it because it's a portable version?
Do I have to use the installer version so that I can use additional OCR language?
Thanks.
Can't install OCR language pack in portable version

Re: Can't install OCR language pack in portable version
Hello coffeemomo,
Welcome to our forums. It would be easier if you indeed install the stand alone Viewer but it's possible to add OCR lanuages manually too. Please take a look at this topic.

Re: Can't install OCR language pack in portable version
Hi there.
I'm new to PDF-XChange Editor.
I have downloaded the free version (3.0 Build 306.1), and I'm trying to install one of the language packs described in :
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/pdf-xchange-viewer-ocr.
I keep getting an error message: "PDF Viewer and Editor was not installed - Installation aborted!".
I'm using Windows 7 64bit version, but my Program Files directory is called "Program Files (x86)", since I usually install 32bit versions of my favorite software....
Can someone help me please ??

Re: Can't install OCR language pack in portable version
Hi Danny,
Our applications would normally be 64 bit ones and deployed in the
C:\Program Files\ folder (without x86)
Please try installing there and then try the language pack once again.

Stefan

Re: Can't install OCR language pack in portable version
Hi Stefan.
Thank you for your answer. I have managed to install the language I needed for OCR, which leads me to my next question and request for help.
I have imported an image and asked PDF-XChane Editor to OCR it after converting it to pdf (using the "image post-processing" option).
The output file was clearly containing Hebrew text which I could select.
But, and here comes my request for help: I wasn't able to search any of the Hebrew words which were ocred.
I even tried to find the words in reverse, with no success.
For example: the converted page contained the Hebrew word "ישראל" which means Israel. I searched the page for both "ישראל" and "לארשי", but with no success.
Is this a known problem, or am I doing something wrong ?
I will be thankful for any help on the matter above...

Re: Can't install OCR language pack in portable version
Hi Danny,
after discussion this with our OCR developer it seems that Right to Left searching is a very different kettle of fish than left to right and it is not as yet in place. At this point I don't have an ETA for when or indeed even if this will be done. Are you able to search single characters?
