Hello again,
I feel really embarrassed to ask this question because I am sure I was able to search the help and Internet previously and find the answer. But I cannot find it now ... how do I copy and paste content out of XChange Editor to another app, like Word, or AutoCAD, etc.
Thank you,
Copy ... paste to other apps

Hello, smccrary@rosemccrary.com
Simply use the normal Copy function that you would anywhere else, (Cltr+C or Right click copy). If there is specific content you would like to copy from our editor, it is important to use the correct tool to select it first, nearly all objects in the format can be selected by using either the "Select comments", or "Edit" tools.
Kind regards,

Re: Copy ... paste to other apps
Thank you for the response.
Well...hmm...that is a reasonable response, to be expected, candidly, and thank you again...
nonetheless, that is not working. sorry. I hope I am doing something wrong.
Please allow me to trace my steps.
1. Open Powerpoint, select File>New, Blank Presentation
2. In PDF-XChange: select File>New Document>With blank pages>Standard: Letter/ANSI A; Orientation: portrait.
3. a. On Comments tab, select Rectangle tool, draw a rectangle in work space.
b. On Comments tab, select Arrow tool, draw a line with arrow.
4. a. Click on Select Comments
b. In the work space, click on Rectangle,
c. <right click mouse>, Copy; OR Home>Clipboard>Copy; OR <ctrl+c>
d. Switch to Powerpoint...<right click mouse> paste options are greyed out; OR
Home>Clipboard all greyed out; <ctrl+v> does nothing,
5. Same for arrow
Same for both rectangle and arrow
Thoughts?

Re: Copy ... paste to other apps
Hello, smccrary@rosemccrary.com
PowerPoint is very picky about the types of content that it allows to be pasted within its documents. PDF comments may often not be accepted, so instead you would want to copy the "base content".
To do this, you will want to "flatten" the comments you have currently. This is done with the "flatten" tool, on the comment tab: Once the comments have been flattened, select them with the "edit" tool (on the home tab) instead, and then they should copy and paste into powerpoint nicely.

Re: Copy ... paste to other apps
Hello and thank you again for the response.
Well, I seem to be a harbinger today but that suggestion does not work either, still greyed out. (But I did learn how to edit "flattened" objects, which is nice because previously I was only editing "flattened" text.)
I can take an object, using copy/cut-paste, from PPT or Word or Excel into PDFXE but not vice versa, i.e., once I paste the object into PDFXE I cannot copy/cut and paste it back out.
Ciao

Re: Copy ... paste to other apps
Hello, smccrary@rosemccrary.com
My apologies, when I was testing this I was working with text and images, and i was mistaken in my assumption that everything else worked the same way. I apologize for the confusion I caused.
Both of those content types (text and images) will be pasted to office formats without trouble, "shapes" and comments on the other hand are more volatile, very few other apps will accept them as they are. If you need to move a large amount of page content to word, or other office formats, it would be best to use the convert functions, on the convert tab, to get all the page content into their own format first.
