Redaction visible

Post by Feelda »

Hi,

I'd like to report what appears to be a bug. I want to delete text from a document that is an image. So I use the redact button with "fill color" : NONE.

Stroke color is also set on "None". Yet when I draw a frame and apply redaction, this frame shows in my document. This appears to be a bug, because when I zoom of unzoom, sometimes it shows, sometimes not...

Attached is an example. you can see the redacted part (the above is before, the below is after).

Maybe I'm not doing it right...

Best regards

Hello Feelda,

When you select "none" as the colour - our editor will "cut out" these parts of the image, and the 'borders' you see are there because of the 'overlap' between a white background that our editor has filled and the cut out image. If you turn on to see transparency - the result looks like this:

So if you are cutting our parts of an image - please consider using instead "white" as the redaction colour, and the result should be better:

Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello Feelda,

You are correct - there still seems to appear small gaps that show the transparency layer below:

I will have a colleague from the dev team take a look at this!

Stefan

Hello Stefan,

Thanks for your reply, I am glad to see it was not only happening to me, and that, as the great Jerry Seinfeld would say, "the wheels are in motion".

All the best,

Just to be more complete : when I do as you say (select "white" as "redaction color", the small gap does not appear as transparency layer. But it still shows in the document.

An example is attached

Hello Feelda,

Yes - I still had the "Transparent background" turned on, so that I can better see your sample. Yes with that turned off - the background will be white, but still there would be a slight 'grey share border' noticeable even in that case. I am still expecting some feedback from our devs!

Our devs confirmed there is something not quite right with the way we handle your images, and we've created an (internal) ticket for this:
#5924: Problem with using Redaction operation for images with "Decode" option"
As soon as there are any news in the ticket - I will post back here as well.

Kind regards,
Stefan
