Hi,
I've got a bookmark. I've selected it, and chosen properties.
But, I can't see the actual WORD to which the bookmark is attached on the page.
I'm guessing it has some definite x, y coordinate on the page.
In the past I've seen this dialog box posted in the forum:
So, two questions, please:
How can I get to this information for any single bookmark?
Then is it further possible for that dialog box, or any other, to actually visually illustrate the actual location of the bookmark? Rather than me having to find out wherever the bookmark is by reading X, Y coordinates - a way to have the bookmark's location visually highlighted / illustrated.
Sincerely,
SCH

Hi shade-cabin-hammock,
you find the coordinates from the bookmark properties and editing the action:
I hope that helps.
you find the coordinates from the bookmark properties and editing the action:
This is because unlike hyperlinks in HTML where a link is associated with text, as you alluded to, links in PDFs are entirely coordinate based. There is no associated text. But, I can't see the actual WORD to which the bookmark is attached on the page.
really only in that properties action dialogue I am afraid. Then is it further possible for that dialog box, or any other, to actually visually illustrate the actual location of the bookmark? Hi,
Ah! Yep. I follow to see how to get to those values.
I'm confused. Take a look at this image below. While according to the bottom toolbar the x, y values of the words "Research Paper" near the top of the page are roughly 61, 113, when I open the properties for the link, they are listed as 58, 688 - with the x value being quite close, but the y value being far off. I saw the same pattern for other links. A sample file is attached. What do you think is happening?
Sincerely,
SCH

Hello shade-cabin-hammock,
Each PDF page has an internal coordinate system, and this is Cartesian one - so the bottom left corner of the page is with 0.0 coordinates.
The bookmark target is reported in those coordinates, but it seems like you have switched to see your page coordinates with 0.0 being the Top Left corner of your page and that's why you see the Y value different. You can switch to seeing the page coordinates in the Cartesian coordinate system from here: Kind regards,
Stefan
