Scanning

Post by turnerje »

I have several scanners that show up in the scanning setup that aren't even installed on my computer anymore. Is there some way to remove the obsolete ones from the list?

Hi James,

when the scanner process starts it gets these from the installed drivers. You need to uninstall the drivers for those old devices and then they will not show up anymore.
Here is a page explaining how to do that. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-r ... -windows-7

It says windows 7 in the link but refers to Windows 10 in the article. The process should be the same.

I hope that helps.

I've already uninstalled all of these weeks ago.

I've tried restarting the program and rebooting the computer several times.

Thanks,

To me it seems like removing the device from the list with devices is not enough.

I had to go into my Windows Settings > Apps > Apps & features.

In the list with installed apps, I had to search for my Canon printer/scanner device and Uninstall it.
Only after that, it did not appear anymore in the PDF-XChange Editor, Scanner Presets.

Does this work for you or is this what you already did?

That seemed to do it.

Thanks Willy for adding that.

Indeed the drivers themselves must be uninstalled, not just the device removed.

I am pleased to hear this is sorted out.

Thanks everyone, I had just ended up with to many to go through and then the one I needed to use was showing as off line. I had to re-install it to get it to work.
