Hi !
I just have a simple document with 2 layers (one is background, the other is forground).
I can show/hide each layer using the bulb light icon.
My problem is that even when one layer is hidden, the selection tools is selecting hidden object of this hidden layer.
What is the process the make the hidden layer unselectable ?
THANKS A LOT

Re: Avoid selection in an hiden layer
Hello Golem13,
Can you please go to Help -> About in the Editor and check which build you are using?
I suspect it is an older one, as in the current latest (356) I can not select annotations from a layer that has been turned off.
Also - if you have objects from several layers selected, and you turn off a layer - this also deselects the objects from that layer, and keeps the rest in your selection.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Avoid selection in an hiden layer
Thanks for this quick rely
Version 9.1, build 356.0 (Enhanced OCR)
As I'm new the PDF-XChange, maybe I'm doing something wrong...
I put a screen shot with the object selected but in the hidden layer.

Re: Avoid selection in an hiden layer
Hello Golem13,
Is that base content object that you have selected? If it is - then I presume it was not added to this layer by our products (as we can currently only add annotations to a layer.
Can we have a copy of the affected page?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Avoid selection in an hiden layer
I added to the layer with PDF-XChange Editor.
What I have done :
1. I've created two layers in PDF-XChange (using the layer panel) (one background, one foreground)
2. I right-click on object and I use to put the objet in the good layer...
After doing that on all objects, the show/hide feature is working well
Only the selection is strange as we can selected hidden objects (when the cursor fly over an hidden object, the cursor shows "XF")
Hope this helps.

Hello Golem13,
Can I please have a copy of that page with those two layers on it, as I am unable to reproduce this with my samples that I prepared?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Avoid selection in an hiden layer
Thanks Golem13,
from what I am seeing you have content that is still on neither layer. There is an image that I selected for example, that is in the "background" layer: However it is nested in XForm objects that are not:
Try moving the XForm containers to the desired layer. You can us ethe "Content Pane" and a right click. InDesign seems to be adding a lot of these XForms, I am not sure why.
Does that give you what you are looking for?

Re: Avoid selection in an hiden layer
Well done... Yes, the problem was the XForm...
I know that this is not the topic, but do you have any clue why,
when moving the XForm that contained the image object with 9, 2, 2,
there an alpha channel mask that does not move ?

Re: Avoid selection in an hiden layer
Hello, Golem13
Sorry for the delay here. The best that I can assume is because a "mask" is quite often an entirely separate object from the image, and thus the two could be assigned to separate layers, or selected individually and assigned to the same layer. If one was not selected, than it would be left behind during assignment.
Kind regards,
