Extend Tags support

Post by daniel_lutz »

Hello support,

it would be very nice if you can extend the tags support of PDF X-Change Editor. Currently the "Artifact" tag is set but there is a missing role mapping to an standard role because "Artifact" is no standard role of the PDF-Standard (my knowledge of 1.7) A better way were if you can set artifact like the pdf spezification is explained not as role, as "real" artifact (is topic 14 in the pdf specification, the artifact is no longer a part of tag tree >> see adobe acrobat implementation) Another point is the missing feature to tag formular elements. It seams to be currently not possible to select formular elemts like textboxes, radio buttons and so if the tags tool is active.
Best regards
Daniel

Thanks for the report. Will try to improve the tagging in upcoming builds.

You can tag form fields/annotation. To do that, please select a parent tag in the Tags panel, and select desired annotation or form field (in case of form field you will need to activate Select Fields tool on the Form ribbon bar; for Links annotation activate Add/Edit Links tool on the Home bar), right click on it and choose Tags -> Create tag from selection (or use corresponding menu in Tags panel).

Hello Ivan,
i've tried and it works. But as feature request it would be great if the selection is also possible if the tool "menu" >> "accessibility" >> "reading order" is active. So it is easy to tag all thing if it possible to select all object type (formular elements, text, images and so on) with one tool.
Best regards

Hello daniel_lutz,

Form fields and annotations are quite distinct objects in the internal structure of a PDF file, and that's why we offer separate tools for them and why selecting them is also done separately, but I will ask our devs if there's anything else we can do to improve the tagging experience!

Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello thanks for asking. In Adobe Acrobat it is also possible to use "one" tool to tag all object types.

On the other hand is there any plan to implement to correct way to tag artifacts?

Best regards
Daniel

Will try to let the Reading Order tool add form fields and annotation to the selection.
Also will change the way how Artifacts are marked.
