Numbering (typewriter)

Post by Feelda »

Hello,

I am making a form with PDF X CHANGE EDITOR, and in my text, I need to use the numbering option.
No problem here, everything works amazing, except that I am unable to continue previous numbering from one page to the other...

Does a solution exist for that ?

All the best,

Hello Feelda,

Are you trying to get the page number to display in a form field?
Or do you just want to number pages?

Both should be possible, but with different tools! If you can - please share with us a sample file of what you have done so far and also e.g. some screenshots of what you want to achieve - and we will guide you to the best tools to use to achieve the desired result!

Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello Stefan,

I'm trying to number items (same as bulletpoints, but with numbers).
And I would like my numbering to continue.

Lets say that on page one I have :

1. This is a title
2. Same
3. Same

And then I switch to page n°2, I'd like to be able to continue numbering my items and go :

4. this is a title
...

Do you see what I mean ?

Thanks for your help !

Re: Numbering (typewriter)  SOLVED

Hello Feelda,

Thanks! I understand now, but the PDF format is quite different than e.g. Word documents - so each page in a PDF file is a separate object and there is no 'continuation' of the content from one page to the other, so there isn't really a way you can automate these counters inside a text object.
You can of course manually type in your numbers as needed but that will probably not be ideal!

Alternatively - you can use counter stamps like the ones attached here:
Stamps_indexes.pdf
Just download this file and place it in %Appdata%\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Stamps, and then restart the Editor. Once that is done - you should have a new stamp collection with counters that can persist through the document, through an Editor session or globally (even between Editor sessions).

Kind regards,
Stefan
