Open Sans - bold missing
I've downloaded and installed Google's Open Sans fonts, including bold, but when using PDFX Editor to convert a Word file containing them to pdf, whilst the regular font is reproduced fine, the bold titles revert to regular.
The fonts display correctly in the source Word file and Adobe Acrobat converts it correctly. When the font is changed to Arial, PDFX Editor converts the bold font correctly.
Is this a bug or is there a way to fix this behaviour?

Hello BobM,
How are you converting the Word Document to PDF?
I tried with:
1) Downloading the OpenSans font
2) Making a sample word document
3) Converting that to PDF by drag-dropping the Word file over the Editor - and the result is attached. My second line is properly bold as it should be, and the font was preserved as OpenSans.
Kind regards,
Stefan

This was produced via the integrated Convert to PDF button in the Word ribbon menu. The result was the same on several occasions.
I've since closed PDFX and tried replicating the problem but it seems to have disappeared now so I can't explain it. Maybe a short term memory resource issue.
Thanks for the follow-up.

Hello BobM,
I am unable to reproduce this with the add-in either (please see attached): Can you please check if you are using the current latest build of our products (354)?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Afraid I'm still on 352.0 as I don't have admin rights - I'll get it updated when I can.

Re: Open Sans - bold missing
Hello BobM,
Thanks for confirming! I think there was indeed an issue with Open Sans in earlier builds - but we have made changes that seem to have fixed it and it also seems to not be affecting you all the time! Please do ask your sysadmins to update your copy of our products to 354, and let us know if you experience this issue again!
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Open Sans - bold missing
Hi,
I have the same problem !
I use PDF-XChange PRO 9.3 build 361
I use Open Sans in a Word document, then I tried to convert to PDF but bold type is not converted.
This was produced via the integrated Convert to PDF button in the Word ribbon menu.
I try the Font Setting from this button to incorporate Open Sans in the document, but to no avail.
Is there something I can do ?
Thanks,
François

Re: Open Sans - bold missing
I've recently installed v9.3 build 361.0 and both regular and bold Open Sans were rendered correctly using the PDFXChange Pro Convert to PDF button.
One observation, which may or may not be relevant (now), is that the test.pdf created by Stefan above displayed correctly in PDFXChange but not in the latest Chrome, see below. His document1.pdf worked fine in both.

Hello, francois maurice
Would it be possible for you to send us a copy of the original Word document that you are converting, so that we can test with that here and see if the issue is reproducible on our end?
